The constituency
The constituency of Camborne, Redruth and Hayle was first contested at the May 2010 General Election when the Liberal Democrats came within 66 votes of winning.
The bulk of the new constituency was formed from the previous Falmouth and Camborne constituency, held from 2005-2010 by Liberal Democrat MP Julia Goldsworthy. The remainder is made up from parts taken from the neighbouring Truro and St Austell and St Ives constituencies.
