Lib Dem Councillors win ban on single use plastic

Sngle use plasticsLib Dem Councillors have got Cornwall Council to agree to phase out the use of all single use cups, lids, plastic bottles, plastiv lined cardboard and any other single use plastics from the entire Cornwall Council Estate by 2020.

The motion proposed to Cornwall Council today by Liberal Democrat Councillors Jesse Foot and Dominic Fairman also calls on all businesses with which the Council works to also promote the banning of simialr products in their own business environments.

Cllr Jesse Foot said "Waste and Recycling is a major concern for the people of Cornwall. Single use plastics create unnecessary waste with negative impacts on our communities. In order to lead by example and take positive corporate action, Konsel Kernow will encourage a culture that supports the environment by reducing waste and utilizing reuseable and recyclable products."
