David believes the plan, which would cover the Illogan, Park Bottom and West Tolgus areas, should directly reflect the needs and wishes of the wider local community rather than just those of elected officials.

David said: "Bad planning can be the undoing of many a good local community, but good planning done with the full support of local people can strengthen bonds and improve community spirit. We need a well designed Neighbourhood Plan that puts on paper how our local community wants to flourish and grow in the next decade or so.

"If we have a strong Neighbourhood Plan in place we will have the opportunity to set the planning criteria that must be followed by developers wishing to build in the area, and influence or change any future planning applications. In order that we get the plan right, it is really important that local residents get involved - particularly in the early stages of the plan, so that the final draft truly reflects what local people want."
